Bringing All Communities Together to have Fun!!!

  Welcome to Kingston Carnival 2009!

Sunday 6th September sees Kingston come alive with the sounds of Carnival.

Head to the Market Place and High Street for a day filled with fun for all the family.

This year promises to be more colourful and spectacular than ever with a procession, free music and entertainment, interactive workshops, fantastic food and lots more.

The two performance stages feature artists both big and small - from local community performers to the cream of London's mas bands - Paddington Elimu and Beerahaar Sweet Combination - bringing massive carnival vibes from the previous weekend's Notting Hill Carnival.

High Street is closed to traffic for the day, and will be lined with stalls from the Rose Theatre to the Market Place. Try food from around the globe - but make sure you leave room for traditional Carnival food - Jamaican jerk chicken.

Keep your eyes peeled for street entertainers, with martial arts demonstrations and live street theatre.

The fun starts at 12 noon, as the procession forms outside HSBC on Clarence Street, leading to the entertainment areas in the Market Place and on High Street. Performances run until 5.30pm.

Get into your most colourful clothes and join us! Join in the procession, dance along to the music, try the international foods - but most of all - Have Fun and Enjoy!
